Jerome Patterson was ten years old when his family was attacked by Indians during the Indian Massacre at Madelia, Minnesota. Madelia, “Pride of the Prairie,” was established September 10, 1857. It was originally named Wapaca, however, within the year the name was changed to Madelia in memory of the deceased daughter of one of the founding fathers, Philander Hartshorn. …

I Am a retired floor covering installer. I was married and have five boys. My wife passed away in February 2011. I also make southwestern greeting cards. I have written four other books, “A history of Sahuarita”, “Copper Creek”, “Arizona Hidden Treasures”, and “Woman on the Move”. I am a deacon at my church. I live alone in Three Points, Arizona.
